The MacGregor Cricket Club was established in 1974, to provide organised cricket competition and coaching for children aged 8 to 16 in the MacGregor/Sunnybank area.
We were incorporated in 1985 and changed our name to MacGregor/Souths Cricket Club in 1996, to acknowledge our role as a junior feeder club for the Southern Districts Cricket Club (Yeronga).
We currently have members playing cricket in the South/West Club teams, from Super 7’s just starting out, to elite competitors, and many more joining our Junior and Master Blasters programs.
We are the current holders of a lease on Brisbane City Council parkland at D. M. Henderson Park at MacGregor, where we have 2 ovals. Junior teams play on our ovals each Saturday. The MacGregor Cricket Club (a senior sub-committee of our club), use one of our ovals to play in the Brisbane Warehouse Cricket Association competition.
Our neighbours, the Sunnybank Rugby Club use our ovals in the winter season for junior training and carnivals. Students from MacGregor State High School use our ovals for school sport each week, for cricket in summer and touch football in winter. Our ovals are heavily used on weekday afternoons for practice and training, and often on Sunday mornings for squad training. We have 3 sets of practice wickets at our ovals. Our ovals are available and are used by social groups (such as work and church groups) for social days.
Entry to our grounds is via the driveway leading to Sunnybank Rugby off Granadilla Street or the Council carpark.
